Making games
Do I need to know how to code?
No. That's the whole point. You describe the game you want in plain English, and ARCADEBOX.AI builds it. There's no engine to learn, no scripting, no setup. If you can type a sentence, you can make a game.
What kinds of games can I make?
ARCADEBOX.AI builds two kinds of games, depending on the engine you pick in the Studio:
- Blueprint games — instant, reliable 3D arena games (and classic top-down 2D arcade games) that run on ARCADEBOX.AI's own hand-built engines. Shooters (including first-person), races, boss fights, wave survival, collect-the-thing, defend-the-base, arena brawls.
- Raw-code games — the newest thing we make: BIT AI writes and edits real game code for your game, 2D or 3D, and you watch it work. If the game breaks, BIT AI spots the error and fixes it itself.
You shape all of it by prompting: the theme, the goal, the enemies, the weapons, the look. We're honest about scope — ARCADEBOX.AI is brilliant at arcade-style games and gets broader all the time, but it isn't an everything-engine yet. Open-world RPGs and deep story games are on the roadmap, not in the box today. If BIT AI can't build exactly what you pictured, it'll get you something close and you can keep modding it.
How do I actually build one?
In the Studio — a chat on one side, a live preview of your game on the other. It works like a conversation:
- Pick an engine (or just go with the default) and type what you want ("a neon space arena where I dodge asteroids and shoot drones").
- BIT AI builds it and it appears in the preview, ready to play.
- Keep going. "Make the drones faster." "Add a boss at the end." "Change it to a jungle." Each prompt mods your game.
Most great games come from many prompts, not one — you're refining, not gambling. And refining is the cheap part: an AI edit is 3 Credits, against 10 for a fresh build (see Plans & pricing below).
Can anyone use ARCADEBOX.AI right now?
Yes — ARCADEBOX.AI is open to everyone. Playing needs no account at all: browse The Arcade and jump into any game. Building your own games just needs a free account — sign up, collect your welcome Credits, and start making.
What is BIT AI?
BIT AI is your box-bot host — the friendly character who builds your games, cheers you on, and takes the blame when a build fizzles. BIT AI is the voice you'll see throughout ARCADEBOX.AI: building, celebrating, and nudging you when you're ready to level up.
What's a "Cabinet"? What's "The Arcade"?
Arcade language for the basics:
- Your cabinet = your saved games. Each game you make is a cabinet you own and can come back to.
- The Arcade = the public gallery, where creators share their cabinets for anyone to play and edit — with likes, scoreboards, and comments on every game page.
- Free = our free plan: 15 Credits when you join, then 10 more every month — and playing and sharing are always free.
Plans & pricing
Do I need Credits to build?
Yes — building runs on Credits, at posted rates. An AI build is 10 Credits, an AI edit is 3, and a custom 3D model is 15. Starting from a template is free, and playing and sharing are always free, on every plan. Everyone gets 15 Credits at signup, and the Free plan adds 10 more every month; Starter, Player and Studio top you up with bigger monthly allowances (see the plans below). In practice, your 15 signup Credits cover your first build and an edit or two — enough to make something and start shaping it.

There's also a custom Developer tier (10,000 Credits a month, full Godot & Unreal Engine as they roll out) — talk to us.
Starting is free: everyone gets 15 Credits at signup plus 10 more every month on the Free plan. When you want more, the paid plans are live today — payments are handled securely by Stripe, we never see or store your full card details, and you can cancel any time.
Can I switch or cancel plans?
Anytime, both ways. Upgrade and the new perks unlock right away; cancel and your plan runs to the end of what you've paid for, then drops to Free. Your games stay playable and shareable even after you cancel, and commercial rights on games you made while subscribed survive cancellation.
What happens if a build fails?
BIT AI doesn't give up. For raw-code games, if the game's code hits an error, BIT AI catches it and repairs the game itself. Reliability is the product, so this is built into the plumbing, not just a promise. If something still isn't right, tell us at support@arcadebox.ai.
Ownership, selling & copyright
Who owns the games I make?
You do — your creative work is yours. That means:
- Your prompts and the game design they produce
- The game's GameSpec (the structured blueprint of a blueprint game) or its game code (the real code BIT AI writes for a raw-code game)
- Any assets you upload or generate for your game
- The playable game and any builds you export
On a Player plan or above your games come with commercial rights — and those rights survive cancellation: a game you made while subscribed keeps its commercial rights even if you later cancel. Paid-plan games also carry no ARCADEBOX.AI badge. Free and Starter games are for personal, non-commercial use, are public, and carry a small ARCADEBOX.AI badge.
How that works under the hood: ARCADEBOX.AI builds two kinds of games. Blueprint games don't get their own pile of code — they run on hand-built runtime engines that ARCADEBOX.AI owns, and your game is the design (prompts + GameSpec + assets). Raw-code games do have their own real game code, written by BIT AI for you — and that per-game code is yours. Either way, what stays ARCADEBOX.AI's is the platform: the engines, the sandboxed player, the Studio, and BIT AI itself.
Live on Studio: you can connect your own GitHub repository and push your game's real code straight to it — your code, your repo, take it anywhere. Studio can also download a game as a complete source project. On Free and Starter you work your saved game inside ARCADEBOX.AI.
Can I sell my game?
Yes, on any Player plan or above. Paid plans include commercial rights: you can sell and monetise the games you make and keep the proceeds — and if you later cancel, games you made while subscribed keep those rights. Free and Starter games are personal, non-commercial only.
What's not here yet: ARCADEBOX.AI does not have its own in-app store where players buy games from creators, so there's currently no revenue cut — selling happens off-platform (your own site, or stores like Steam / itch.io using a build you've downloaded), and that money is entirely yours.
Can I use my own art, characters, or sounds?
A few ways:
- Reference images (all plans): attach an image in the Studio to steer the look and vibe of your game.
- Real 3D models from text or an image: where available, the ✨ button turns text or an uploaded picture into an actual 3D model in your game — "that's literally my character, in my game." A custom 3D model costs 15 Credits, and it uses a specialist third-party 3D-generation service behind the scenes.
- Uploading your own asset files (sprites, sounds, models) is a Studio perk that's rolling out — coming soon.
Some building-block assets are shared, openly-licensed (CC0) pieces that ARCADEBOX.AI provides. You're licensed to use those in your game, but you don't own them exclusively — other creators can use them too, and AI generation may produce similar-looking results for different people. Anything you upload stays yours.
What about your uploads and AI training?
Anything you upload is yours. We don't hand your uploaded files to other creators to use in their games.
To generate and run your game, your prompts and any attached/uploaded images are sent to the third-party AI services that power ARCADEBOX.AI — that's how the game gets made. ARCADEBOX.AI does not train its own AI models.
Can I make a game using copyrighted characters or brands?
No. You're responsible for making sure your game — including anything you prompt for, upload, or generate — doesn't infringe someone else's copyright, trademark, or other rights. Don't ask BIT AI to build "Mario" or use logos, characters, music, or art you don't have the right to use.
Also worth knowing: whether AI-generated content can be copyrighted at all varies by country and is still unsettled law in many places. If you're planning to build a business on a game you made, it's worth a chat with a lawyer about what you can protect. (This FAQ isn't legal advice.)
Playing & shipping
Can I download my game?
Yes — downloading your game is live as a Studio-plan perk. Every game runs instantly in the browser and can be shared with a link; on the Studio plan you can also take it away: raw-code games download as a complete project — a ready-to-open index.html plus your game's full source code, which runs offline — and blueprint games download their blueprint (a .gamespec.json design file). The installable Windows app (.exe) for BIT AI Arena games, built with the full game engine (proper lighting, shadows, effects), is rolling out now.
To be clear about what "download" means: you get your game — its code or blueprint and the playable build — never the ARCADEBOX.AI engine's or platform's own source code. (See "Who owns the games I make?" above.)
Connect your own GitHub repo — live on Studio. Studio-plan makers can connect their own GitHub repository and push their game's real code straight to it — your game is yours, take the code anywhere. Free and Starter plans work their saved games inside ARCADEBOX.AI.
What platforms can people play my game on?
- In any modern web browser — instantly, via a share link, no install. This is how every ARCADEBOX.AI game plays today.
- On Windows — by downloading the installable app (rolling out now; see "Can I download my game?").
- On stores like Steam or itch.io — by publishing a downloaded build yourself.
One-click publishing to stores and mobile (iOS/Android) versions are future plans, not available today.
Can I play with my friends?
Yes — ARCADEBOX.AI supports real-time online multiplayer rooms. Here's how the pricing works: joining a room is free on every plan — anyone with an invite link can jump in. Hosting your own rooms is a Player/Studio perk (hosts are what keep the servers running for everyone).
Game pages also have scoreboards and comments, so you can compete and chat even when you're not in the same room — and more social features are on the way.
Can I use a controller?
Yes — you can play with keyboard and mouse or a game controller. Controller support will shine brightest in the downloadable Windows app as downloads roll out.
Who it's for
Is ARCADEBOX.AI good for beginners?
It's built for them. If you've ever thought "I wish someone made a game where…" but you can't code, this is for you. Start on the Free plan, type an idea, and BIT AI will build you something playable.
Is it good for students and teachers?
Yes. It's a fast, code-free way to explore game design, iteration, and creative problem-solving — describe an idea, see it run, change it, learn what makes it fun.
Is it good for indie studios and pros?
Yes. The Player plan and above include commercial rights to sell what you make (and they survive cancellation), and the Studio plan gets the biggest engines first — early access to 3D raw-code games, the premium BIT AI brain, downloads, and asset uploads as they roll out, plus the fastest build lane and the ability to disable editing on your games. It's a quick way to prototype arcade games and ship something playable — bearing in mind the current scope (arcade-style games) and that blueprint games run on the ARCADEBOX.AI engines rather than handing you engine source.
Account & support
How do I sign in?
A few ways in, whichever you prefer: create an account with an email and a password (and an optional display name), continue with Google, Discord, or GitHub, or use a one-time magic email link.
